Why Houghton specifies differently
Ridge light is nothing like canopy light.
Upper Houghton stands on a ridge with open sky and real wind at elevation; Lower Houghton spreads into a flatter grid of large gracious homes and Art Deco blocks. Two suburbs in one, and two different specifications.

Without a dense tree canopy overhead, Upper Houghton glass takes direct sun for more of the day than its parks-belt neighbours. External venetians and roller shutters stop that heat outside the glass — the honest fix for the hardest west elevations.
