"Every window here has a story — settled frames, old putty lines, a view of the park nobody wants blocked. We measure for that window, not around it."

Shading, not security. Our roller shutters are made for sun, heat and glare control on the outside of the glass. They are not security-rated shutters — that is a different product, which we can quote on request.

We wrote all of that down properly.

Rather than make you take our word for it, here is the reasoning in full — sun path, season by season, elevation by elevation, and what we would specify where, with the catch in each answer said out loud.

How it works

Four steps. One visit does most of it.

No showroom trip, no guessing at sizes from a brochure — the measure happens at the actual window.

Questions

Asked at almost every measure.

Our windows are original sash frames — can you fit blinds without damaging them?+

Usually, yes. We favour inside-mount brackets sized to the actual recess, or a light outside-mount fixed to the surrounding wall rather than the sash itself where the timber is fragile. The free measure tells us which suits your specific frame before anything is ordered.

What actually stops the glare coming off the park in the afternoon?+

A 3–5% openness sunscreen mesh keeps the view while cutting glare and UV — the standard answer for park-facing glass. For bedrooms that need real darkness, a blockout roller or blockout cellular blind does the rest.

Will a folding-arm awning actually survive a proper Highveld thunderstorm?+

Wind ratings are real limits, not marketing. Specify the awning with a motor and wind sensor and it retracts itself before a gust can catch it open — that's the difference between an awning that lasts and one that doesn't.

What's the difference between inside-mount and outside-mount on a heritage window?+

Inside-mount sits within the recess for a tailored, original look, but needs enough recess depth. Outside-mount covers the frame and gives fuller blockout coverage — often the better call on shallow or slightly out-of-square sash openings.

Are the blinds safe with young children or grandchildren in the house?+

Chain and cord tensioners are fitted as standard on every corded blind, and we'll steer nurseries and kids' rooms toward wand, cordless or motorised options with nothing left dangling within reach.

What does the quote actually cost?+

Nothing. The in-home measure, the sample viewing and the written per-window quote are all free, with no obligation to proceed.
